The Nurse-Patient Relationship: Working with Patients Recovering from an Eating Disorder in the Inpatient Setting

Are you a nurse working in Canada? You are invited to participate in a study being conducted by a Master of Psychiatric Nursing student at Brandon University that is exploring how nurses working with adults being treated for eating disorders on an inpatient unit form therapeutic nurse-patient relationships. 

You are eligible to participate in this research, if you:

• are a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse working in Canada, and
• have a minimum of one year of experience working on an inpatient unit with patients being treated for an eating disorder, OR if you are not currently working with this population and in this setting, you have done so within the past year. 

The nurse-patient relationship is essential to the care of patients across all populations and settings. Working with adult patients receiving treatment for an eating disorder on an inpatient unit is a unique population and setting to form this therapeutic relationship. Your voice is required to gain insightful information about the nurse-patient relationship in this unique context. Increased understanding may contribute to improvements that will help nurses and, ultimately, the patients you care for.
